1 Review on “Forget Me Not Gifts and Souvenirs”
I was lucky enough to have visited “Forget Me Not Gifts and Souvenirs” at 231 Lincoln Street in Sitka, AK a couple of weeks ago during a port stop on the cruise I was on.
First off, it was great to finally find a place that was locally owned and NOT owned by Royal Caribbean which seems to sell only “Made in China” souvenirs! Having lived in interior Alaska (Salcha) for almost 10 years, I fully understand how important it is for local, family-owned businesses, especially for our Native Alaskan Brothers and Sisters, during the tourist season as the majority of their annual income (typically about 80%) is made then. Having Royal Caribbean own and operate businesses and compete against places like “Forget Me Not Gifts and Souvenirs” should not be allowed! Talk about a monopoly and it’s unethical in my opinion! Besides, NOBODY that travels to Alaska on vacation would knowingly want to purchase “Made in China” gifts/souvenirs!
I digress. If you are fortunate enough to visit Sitka, “Forget Me Not Gifts and Souvenirs” is a MUST SEE. Their items are unique, many handmade, lots of Native Alaskan art and many “one of a kind”, (Made in Alaska) quality items!
The people working there were great too!
So don’t miss out! Stop in and visit them. And while you are there, buy something to support a local, family-owned business and their community. You will be glad you did, and the gift/souvenir you buy will actually mean something to you.
